Hypothes.is is an annotation tool that is integrated with our Canvas LMS instance so that it may be utilized at sites through Assignments and Modules. See below for how-to resources.

Create a Hypothes.is Assignment at your Canvas site
- Go to the "Assignments" section of your site.
- Click the blue "+ Assignment" button to create a new assignment.
- In the assignment settings, scroll to "Submission Type" and select "External Tool".
- Click the "Find" button to open the list of installed tools.
- Select Hypothes.is from the list.
- After Hypothes.is is selected, you should then see the Hypothes.is file picker which you can use to choose to add a reading via URL or from your Canvas files.
- Once you've set the content to be annotated, configure remaining assignment settings as needed, then click the "Save and Publish" publish button at lower right.
Add Hypothes.is to a Canvas Module
- At your Canvas site, click on "Modules" link in the Course Navigation Menu.
- At the module you want to add Hypothes.is to, click the "+" icon to the right of the module name.
- In the "Add Item" dialog box, click the "Add" drop-down menu and select "External Tool".
- Scroll through the list of available external tools and click on "Hypothes.is".
- Then a list of options should display from which you can choose to add the URL of a webpage or use a PDF already available at your site.
- After you've entered a name for the module item, click "Add Item" to add it to the module.
- Once the item is added, publish it to share it with students.
