  • Campus offices may be reached directly by dialing 867 + the extension number without going through the campus switchboard. You may still reach the automated attendant system by dialing (360) 867- 6000 + the extension number.
  • All long distance calls are charged after 40 seconds from the time "8" is dialed.
  • Directory Assistance- The preferred method for directory assistance is the Qwest on-line directory. However, directory assistance can be accessed via 8+(area code)+555-1212 at a cost of $0.75 per call. All other directory assistance numbers are blocked due to our system dialing plan.
  • International country and city codes can be found on-line.
  • US Area Codes can be found on-line.
  • Email Addresses: A number of staff/faculty have chosen to list their email address. Please use the following format for off-campus usage: email name@.evergreen.edu unless otherwise stated.

  • To dial State Capital number: 9 + (360) + 7 digits
  • Directory assistance: 8 + area code + 555-1212 (fee applies)
  • SCAN Directory Assistance: 9 + (360) + 753-5000
  • International Calls: 8 + 011 + country code + city. Additional dialing information available in Olympia U. S. West Directory.
  • Personal credit card calls: 8 + 0 + area code + 7-digit number, wait for tone + credit card number; for additional assistance, call 6232 during normal business hours.
  • Elevator phones: Will automatically dial Police Services when the call button is pressed.
  • Third party or collect: 8 + 0 + area code + 7-digit number, wait for operator to answer.
  • 900 calls are blocked and not permitted on campus phones
  • To place a call to any local number: Dial 9 + area code + 7 digits.


SCAN Plus Credit Card Dialing: Call within the U.S. (and to Canada, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean):

Follow the directions printed on the back of the SCAN+ Card. SCAN+ Card calls are carried on the AT&T network. For AT&T Operator assistance dial the 800 number listed at the bottom.

System Features

Call Forwarding (Single Line Beige Set) To activate: Pick up handset, dial #1, hear regular dial tone, dial number that calls are to be forwarded to, hang up.

To cancel: Pick up handset, dial #1, hear regular dial tone, hang up.

Put Call on Hold (Single Line Beige Set) To activate: Flask hookswitch, hear special dial tone, dial #4, hang up.

To cancel: Lift handset; or flash hookswitch if you did not hang up.

Transfer a Call (Single Line Beige Set) To activate: Flash hookswitch, hear special dial tone, dial directory number, consult privately, hang up. To bring back a transferred call that has entered voice mail, dial *83 (single line phone only).
Consultation (Single Line Beige Set) To activate: Flash hookswitch, hear special dial tone, dial directory number, consult privately, allow consulted party to hang up, you will be reconnected to your original call.
6-Way Conference (Single Line Beige Set, or Polycom speaker phone) To activate: Flash hookswitch, hear special dial tone, dial desired number, announce conference, flash hookswitch to connect all callers for conference. When conference is completed, hang up.

If you only want to drop one of many people called, have them hang up to maintain the conference with the other parties. CONFIRM they have hung up before discussing anything sensitive.

6-Way Conference (Multi-line Set) To use: Please consult operational booklet for SL 1. This feature allows up to five off-campus conference call locations, unlimited number on-campus.
Ring Again (Single Line Beige Set) To activate: Flash hookswitch, hear special dial tone, dial 11, hear regular dial tone, hang up.

To cancel: Dial 12, hear regular dial tone, hang up.

Call Waiting (Non Voice Mail Stations) To respond: During your conversation, you will hear two quick beeps. To answer new call, flash hookswitch (first call will be put on hold) talk to incoming caller. Flash hookswitch to alternate between callers.
Call Pickup To respond: Lift handset, dial 13, answer call.
Speed Calling To use: Pick up handset, dial #3, hear regular dial tone, dial appropriate speed call entry number, call will automatically be dialed.
Voice Mail To access: Dial 6480 #, extension number #, password #.

To log off: 83.

Express a Message into a Voice Mailbox (phone will not ring): To use: Dial 5480, extension number, leave message.
Call Forward phone to Voice Mail (Single line beige phone To activate: Pick up handset, dial #1, dial 5480, hang up.

To cancel: Pick up handset, dial #1, hear regular dial tone, hang up.
