- You will need a microphone with an xlr connector, and mic cable and desk stand from Medial Loan.
Lab Set Up
- Turn on the power strip
- Turn on the computer.
- Log in to the computer.
- Connect the microphone to Mic/Instr1 on the from of the 828 in the rack.
- Talk in to the mic and adjust the trim knob next to the mic input to set the levels to around -6.
- Plug the headphones into the 828's Phones jack.
Skype Set Up
- Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner, type Skype and select Skype - Applications
- Enter your Skype account and click Next.
- Enter your password and click Sign In.
- Go to Skype > Preferences.
- Click on Audio/Video
- Microphone, Ringing and Speakers should be set to MOTU 828mk3 Hybrid.
- Talk into the microphone to check the levels.
- Click the red dot in the top left of the window to close the window.
Audio Hijack Set Up
- Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner, type Audio Hijack and select Audio Hijack
- Click New Session in the bottom left corner.
- Select Voice Chat and select Choose.
- This template will record the output of Skype to an mp3 file.
Make a Call
- Find the person you will be calling.
- Click the phone icon to make an audio call.
- When the call connect adjust mic levels as needed
