Evergreen Student Email

Evergreen hosts student e-mail using Microsoft Exchange, an industry-standard enterprise system. Although Evergreen has been hosting e-mail services for many years using a variety of systems, in spring of 2007 Evergreen made it the primary communication medium between students and the college. This was the culmination of a two-year project designed to decrease the waste of resources associated with mailing paper to students.

Since that time, Evergreen’s administrative and student services offices have experienced significant savings of both time and resources due to the ability to email students. Also, messages that are time-critical can reach students very quickly, preventing frustration and hardship in many cases.

After making email the official communication medium in 2007, it has undergone changes in 2008 that were put into place in order to improve reliability of delivery.

Auto-Forwarding

Through my.evergreen.edu you can set your evergreen e-mail account to auto-forward to a third party provider (such as hotmail, gmail, MSN, etc..). Be aware that you are then responsible for making sure that you are receiving email from Evergreen as important information around contracts, evaluations, billings and registration to name a few come to your Evergreen account. Send yourself a message to your Evergreen account. If you don't get it, you may have problems with forwarding and once it leaves the Evergreen system we no longer have any ability to troubleshoot the problem.

Note: gmail users have experienced far fewer problems with email forwarding than other providers.
