Here at the Academic Computing Center, a lot of items get left behind (dishes, clothes, flash drives, etc.). In cases where the owner or the owner's academic program can be identified, we'll reach out and let them know their items are safe and available for pick-up. But it's not always possible to find a direction in which to look, and sometimes people don't check back with us. Misc. items and clothes that are not claimed in 5 weeks go into temporary storage and are then given over to a legitimate outlet (e.g. Olympia's Really Really Free Market, the Evergreen Free Store, Goodwill).

Please inquire about lost items at the Computer Center's front desk. You will be asked for your ID (if you don't have a student card, you can show another kind of photo ID) as a safe-guard for getting items back to their correct owners.

Items of great value (not including USB drives) are taken to police services where they can be picked up 24/7. Examples for things that would go to Police Services are wallets, keys, cell-phones, cameras, debit cards, medications, etc. Police Services is located in Sem 1 and can be reached at 867-6832.

<div class="intro"> The most commonly lost item in the center is a USB thumb drive. We catalogue and store hundreds per quarter. The best method to ensure you get notified should you lose your drive is to create a text document labeled "IF FOUND" with current contact info to keep on the drive at all times. </div>

You may have gotten a message from FSRM@orca.evergreen.edu telling you that you have reached the quota limit for your personal fileshare. These folders are very small (100MB) and should be thought of as a very small transfer station or (as some have put it) a safe deposit box. In any case, it's useful for transferring and storing smallish documents and files.If you've gotten this message, you may need to go back through your folder to see whats important to keep and what you can either remove or move someplace else.

If you would like more help cleaning up your folder, the folks at the [http://www.evergreen.edu/computing/academiccomp/home.htm Computer Center] can help you out. You can also give them a call at 867-6227.

===What are my options?===
If you have a critical academic need for additional space, you can also contact academic computing to see what other alternatives are available to you. An alternative may include one of the following;

* Requesting contract or project filespace for the remainder of the quarter
* Asking for a Program fileshare (must be through your faculty), or
* Increasing your personal fileshare quota for the quarter.

Network file space is a protected folder on the network which is available to all Evergreen staff and faculty by default, and for students upon enrolling in a class.

Student shares created this way are located on a server called Orca. Orca replaces the servers Calawah & Masu.

If you are a student in the Media Arts, you may also have filespace available on Nimrod. Space on this server is available only through your academic program.

Network file space is a protected folder on the network which is available to all Evergreen staff and faculty by default, and for students by request. For students, once you have activated your [[Evergreen Login - Getting Started | @evergreen account]], you can request personal file space through [https://my.evergreen.edu| my.evergreen.edu].

Student shares created this way are located on a server called Orca. Orca replaces the servers Calawah & Masu.

Faculty and staff will continue to use the network file space on the server Hurricane/

If you are a student in the Media Arts, you may also have filespace available on Nimrod. Space on this server is available only through your academic program.

===Why use it?===
*The floppy disk in your back pack will quit working some day.
*You will inevitably lose your thumbdrive (flashdrive) somewhere.
*If your hard drive stops working, you might not be able to extract your files from it.
