Headphone Mixes in the Audio Lab

The Audio Lab has two independent mono headphone cues that are distributed at line level to several small analog mixers in the studio and control room.  These mixers are hard-wired from the patch bay and the 1/4" cables for Cue A and Cue B should not be unplugged or moved. The "phones" out should be used to listen on headphones.

Each mixer receives signal from both Cue A and Cue B, so each set of headphones can either hear one of two cues or a blend between the two.

API Echo Sends 1 and 2 are normalled to the Cue A and Cue B distros that feed all the mixers.

CUE 1

1. Cue 1 out of your DAW (when using the template) will come out of Apollo X16 Line Output 15.
2. Apollo X16 Line Output 15 is normalled to the API Echo 1 Module.
3. Turn ON the Echo 1 module on the API.
4. Press the TB button on the Echo 1 module on the API. This assigns the Talkback mic to Echo 1.
5. Press the Ext. In button on the Echo 1 module on the API. This brings a mult from Apollo X16 Line Output 15 directly into the Echo 1 module.
6. Turn the Echo 1 pot to about 1 o'clock. This is the overall volume level for both the API echo trim pots and the cue faders in your DAW.
7. All Echo 1 sends on all API channels go to the Echo 1 module as well.
8. Use these individual Echo 1 trims to control the headphone volume of each LIVE instrument.
9. Make sure to press the PRE button on all the API echo sends on each channel. This allows you to control the headphone level separate from the faders!
10. Use the Cue faders in your DAW to control the volume of your previously recorded material.

CUE 2

1. Cue 2 out of your DAW (when using the template) will come out of Apollo X16 Line Output 16.
2. Apollo X16 Line Output 16 is normalled to the API Echo 2 Module.
3. Turn ON the Echo 2 module on the API.
4. Press the TB button on the Echo 2 module on the API. This assigns the Talkback mic to Echo 2.
5. Press the Ext. In button on the Echo 2 module on the API. This brings a mult from Apollo X16 Line Output 16 directly into the Echo 2 module.
6. Turn the Echo 2 pot to about 1 o'clock. This is the overall volume level for both the API echo trim pots and the cue faders in your DAW.
