[hide]Setting Up MFA with a Hardware Token
A hardware token is a physical device that generates one-time passcodes (OTP) for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This option is available to users who cannot use the Microsoft Authenticator App or phone-based methods. You will need to visit the campus to set up your hardware token. Follow the steps below to complete the setup process.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Visit the Support Center
1. Go to the Technology Support Center on campus to receive your hardware token. 2. The support team will provide you with the token and verify your identity.
Step 2: Connect Your Token
1. The support team will link your hardware token to your Evergreen account. 2. This process ensures the token is uniquely associated with your login credentials.
Step 3: Verify the Setup
1. Test the token by using it to generate a one-time passcode (OTP). 2. Enter the OTP into the verification field to confirm that the token is working properly.
Step 4: Using Your Token
1. When prompted for MFA during login, select Enter a Code. 2. Use your hardware token to generate the one-time passcode. 3. Enter the passcode into the MFA field to complete the login process.
Notes on Hardware Tokens
- Hardware tokens are only issued to users who cannot use other MFA methods (e.g., the Microsoft Authenticator App or phone-based verification).
- Tokens must be kept secure. If your token is lost or damaged, you must visit the Technology Support Center for a replacement.
