Intro

The Evergreen State College has two 2D labs on campus: the 2D Multi-Use Lab in Com 309, and the 2D Rotoscope Lab in Lib 1408. While the two labs have some differences in devices and use, the following checklist applies to both.

Checklist

Follow this checklist every time you use the lab.

Look at the Basic 2D Animation article for details on the steps below

  1. Sign the log book.
  2. Get your artwork ready.
  3. Power on the camera and lights.
  4. Make sure that the camera is set to Manual (M).
  5. Make sure the lens is set to Auto-Focus (AF).
  6. Power on the computer.
  7. Open Dragonframe.
  8. Make a new project or open an existing one.
  9. Set Aspect Ratio masks.
  10. Turn off overhead lights and check for reflections.
  11. Set camera settings with Dragonframe in the Cinematography window.
    • Focus the lens.
    • Set exposure.
    • Take a test shot
  12. Animate your sequence.
  13. Export
  14. Back up files
  15. Record your exit time in the log book as you leave, along with any problems.
