Windows XP

Windows XP is no longer supported. If a machine comes to the Help Desk running Windows XP, this will not be re-imaged with XP or allowed to be put back in service. We will recommend that the machine be upgraded to Windows7 or better if the hardware allows, or if the hardware cannot accommodate this we will recommend that the work unit responsible for this equipment replace the hardware.

Windows 7

Windows 7 is fully supported and all aspects of the operating system is in active support by the TAS Help Desk. New PCs will have Windows 10 installed as the default operating system.

Windows 8

Windows 8 is being phased out in favor of Windows 10. Historically it was installed on touch screen devices only and not part of our standard CPU build.

Windows 10

Windows 10 is fully supported and all aspects of the operating system is in active support by the TAS Help Desk. Systems that come in that are OptiPlex 7010s or higher will be upgraded to Windows 10 unless the client requests the system stay at Windows 7. All Dells older than the OptiPlex 7010 will stay with Windows 7.
