Change Input Language

How to change a computer's settings so you may input text using different languages.

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

To turn on input source for a language

1. From the Apple menu (upper left corner of screen), select System Preferences, click Language & Text.
2. Select the tab labeled Input Sources.
3. Select the language that you would like to add by clicking on the checkbox next to it.
4. Click on the Show Input menu in menu bar checkbox. Exit the window.

• To select/toggle between languages, click on the flag icon in the menu bar (upper right corner of screen).

To turn on the Keyboard Viewer

1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences, click Language & Text and then click Input Sources.
2. Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer checkbox.
3. Make sure the checkbox next to each input source you want to use is selected and that Show Input menu in menu bar is also checked.

Windows XP

1. Navigate to the Control Panel, then select Regions & Language.
2. Select the tab titled Keyboards and Languages, then click Change Keyboards.
3. Click Add, then find the language that you want to use.
4. Click the + signs to expand the information for that language. Then check the boxes next to the languages that you want to use.
5. Select OK in all three windows to accept changes and exit the menu.
6. To toggle between languages now, click on the capitalized two-letter abbreviation (example: EN for English) that is located by your quick-start buttons on the bottom right of your screen.
