What's New in Curricular IT at Evergreen?

Visit the Instructional Technology web pages to become familiar with the complete list of web-based Teaching and Learning tools that are available and arrange an appointment with your Academic Computing Liaison to discuss the optimal technologies to support your instructional activities. Here are some recent additions to our toolset:

  • For interactive class sites, we often recommend moodle-based learning communities. Moodle - similar to “Blackboard”, Moodle supports structured course-work with tools like assignments, quizzes, peer assessment, etc. Moodle is easy to use and has many powerful features designed to augment the classroom experience. We've recently updated and revamped this system.
  • Blogs - a personal journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author and allow others to post comments or critique. Our new system, based on the popular Wordpress platform, allows students and faculty to create personal journals as well as project or class websites at any time. Access the system using your Evergreen login.
  • Wikis - Wikis are best when you’re focusing on group (collaborative) authoring of a piece of written work. (e.g. books, papers, etc). This page was created using Evergreen's wiki tool!
  • the Portfolios System is a new addition to our online tools. Like the blog system, it is oriented around individual accounts, rather than course-based accounts. You or your students can access the system at any time to create an account and start your portfolio. For first time access, please login to our ELMS page (Moodle) first, and then click on the "portfolios" link from there.
