Precautions

Do not aim the camera directly into the sun or other intense light sources.
Do not immerse camera in liquid or allow to get wet.Wipe dry with soft, absorbent cloth if exterior contacts liquid or salt air.
Do not use, place or store in direct sunlight or in places subject to high temperatures such as the dashboard or trunk of a car.
Do not place camera on speakers, electric motors or other equipment generating strong electromagnetic fields.

Basic Operations

Switching between shooting mode and playback

To enter shooting mode slide the [REC]/PLAYBACK] selector switch to the camera icon. To view images, slide the mode switch to the play icon.

Shooting Modes

Intelligent Auto
The camera will set the most appropriate settings to match the subject and the recording conditions so we recommend this mode for beginners or those who want to leave the settings to the camera and take pictures easily.

Scene detection/[STABILIZER]/Face Detection/Motion Detection/Backlight Compensation/Digital Red-eye Correction
  1. Press the [IA] button on the top of the camera.
  2. Press the shutter button halfway to focus.
  3. Press the shutter button fully to take the picture.
Normal Picture Mode
The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the brightness of the subject.
You can take pictures with greater freedom by changing various settings in [REC] menu.
  1. Press [MODE]
  2. Press [UP]/[DOWN] arrows to select [NORMAL PICTURE], and the press [MENU/SET].
  3. Aim the AF area at the point you want to focus on.
  4. Press the shutter button halfway to focus.
  5. Press the shutter button fully to take a picture.
Scene Mode
When you select a Scene Mode to match the subject and recording situation, the camera sets the optimal exposure and hut to obtain the desired picture.
  1. Press [MODE]
  2. Press [UP]/[DOWN] arrows to select [MS] ([My Scene Mode]), and then press [MENU/SET].
  3. Press [UP]/[DOWN]/[LEFT]/[RIGHT] arrows to select the Scene Mode.
  4. Press [MENU/SET] to set.
If you press [DISPLAY] when selecting a Scene Mode, explanations about each Scene Mode are displayed. (If you press [DISPLAY] again, the screen returns to the Scene Mode menu.)
Motion Picture Mode
  1. Press [MODE]
  2. Press [UP]/[Down] arrows and select [MOTION PICTURE], and the press [MENU/SET].
  3. Press the shutter button halfway to focus and then press fully to start recording.
  4. Press the shutter button fully to stop recording.
