If you would like a Program Assistant and/or TA (Teaching Assistants) added to your offering's Canvas site, please contact Academic Technologies.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students enrolled in the course for credit cannot be promoted to the role of Program Assistant or TA due to FERPA.

Faculty have the ability to add users to their curricular sites in the Canvas role of Observer.

If you would like someone added in the role of Program/Teaching Assistant or Faculty, please contact Academic Technologies.

If you would like to add a student who is not registered for your offering, please submit an LMS Exception Request.

This puts a student TA into a "course-building" role. They are able to upload files, create links to files and make other Activities and Resources. They can also create attendance sessions and take attendance, this is the one module they have full access to. They have limited to no access to other student data or ability to add some of the more complex features in Moodle.

This role is intended for students who are either enrolled in the class or not. In either case, to make this work faculty will have to request a student staff account through their Academic Computing liaison.

Faculty Assistant (Grader)

A hired TA or another faculty that the primary faculty of the course would like to allow limited review and/grading of coursework. This role will not be assigned to students enrolled in this class for credit. Once someone with this role is added, they will have access to all files that have been uploaded to the course, including the work submitted by their peers.
