START UP PROCEDURES

  1. Log into the logbook
  2. Explain the simple room flow
  3. Explain the norms from the NEVE to the Apollos
  4. Turn ON Power Bar at the bottom of the rack (to the right of the Neve)
  5. Apollo A should then Power ON. If not, Power ON Apollo A Interface (wait to load: HOST, INT, 48)
  6. Power ON Apollo B interface (wait to load: HOST, EXT, 48)
  7. Use the LG Display Remote to turn on Display monitors
  8. Turn ON and login to the computer
  9. OPTIONAL: Make a new folder with your name on it in the Storage drive
    • (Storage drive folders are accessible to all users of the computer; anyone can modify or delete files here, but it is a good way to turn in assignments or share files with classmates).

SIGNAL FLOW

  1. Go through the signal flow of an input channel
  2. Explain when you would put the channel in TAPE
  3. Patch a line-level source into an input channel of the NEVE
  4. Listen to that source via the Stereo Bus
  5. Explain the channel Cue function and master Cue section of the NEVE (AKA "Aux Sends")
  6. Turn the Cue send 1 and 2 up on the channel, and monitor the Cue send volume
  7. Open Digital Performer
  8. Select - New - 118 Multitrack Template
  9. Record the source that's on the NEVE
  10. Listen to the outputs of Digital Performer (Can listen from "Apollo Monitor" source, or can send Ch. 21/22 to Stereo Bus)
  11. Patch live mic to NEVE Penthouse MIC input
  12. Trim mic and check levels in DP
  13. Explain the Cue function in DP and where the Cue sends go on the NEVE
  14. Supply talent with Headphone mix of pre-recorded and live material (via "Cues," AKA "Aux Sends")
  15. Record to DP
  16. SAVE

MONITORING SECTION

  1. Show where the monitor switches are
  2. Explain what Apollo A Monitor Out Ext. 1 monitors
  3. Run iTunes to hear a song
  4. Explain what ST monitoring is
  5. Explain what Cue 1/2 monitoring is

SHUT DOWN PROCEDURES

  1. Normalize board
  2. Clear Patchbay
  3. Turn OFF Apollo B
  4. Power OFF the power switch and the Display monitors
  5. Log out of the logbook
