Contents
Creating a New Project in Premiere Pro
- Open the Audition application and sign in with your Evergreen email address and password.
- Select File > New > Multitrack Session from the toolbar.
Importing a Video File
Recording
Setting Up the MOTU M4
- Turn down the Monitor knob on the MOTU M4.
- Set up a microphone.
- Plug your microphone) into the front of the MOTU M4 Input 1
- Set the preamp levels with the Gain knob.
- Pay close attention to the meters on the face of the MOTU M4.
- Set the Gain knob so the meter is just turning yellow
- Press the MON button on your input channel.
- Set the Input Monitor Mix knob to 12:00.
- Set the MOTU M4 headphone knob to 2:00.
- Adjust the volumes knob on the headphone amp for each headphone that you are using.
- If the input meters look good but it’s still hard to hear, try turning up the headphone level on the headphone amp.
Recording the First Track
- Set the input of track 1 to Mono: M4 In 1
- Click the Track Record Enable button on track 1.
- Check record levels and headphone levels.
- Click the Record button in the Transport bar.
- Click the Stop button when done
- Click the Track Record Enable button on track 1 to unarm the track.
- Click Play to playback the recording.
- Turn the Input Monitor Mix all the way to the right to only hear playback
- Turn up the Monitor knob to listen on the speakers.
Recording a Second Track While Monitoring Track 1
- Set the input of track 2 to Mono: M4 In 1
- Click the Track Record Enable button on track 2.
- Check record levels and headphone levels.
- Click the Play button to and adjust Input Monitor Mix to change the balance of the microphone and the Pro Tool playback.
- Cue Audition to where you want it to start.
- Click the Record button.
- Click the Stop button when done
- Click the Track Record Enable button on track 2 to unarm the track.
- Click Play to playback the recording.
- Turn the Input Monitor Mix all the way to the right to only hear playback
- Turn up the Monitor knob to listen on the speakers.
End of Session
- Remember to save your Session before closing the file.
- Back ups the entire folder to an external drive or OneDrive.
- Quit Pro Tools.
- Turn all monitor knob down.
- Shutdown the computer.
- Clean up the space:
- Ensure all cables are coiled.
- Ensure all microphone stands are put away by loosening the joints and adjusting the pieces rather than forcing the pieces while the joints are still tightened.
- Tidy up any toys, noise makers, etc. Notate any issues in the logbook.
