- You will need a microphone with an xlr connector, a mic cable, and a desk stand from Media Loan.
Lab Set Up
- Turn on the power strip
- Turn on the computer.
- Log in to the computer.
- Connect the microphone to Input I on the front of the UAC-2.
- Talk into the mic, and adjust the trim knob next to the mic input to set the levels to around -6.
- Plug the headphones into the UAC-2's Phones jack.
Skype Set Up
- Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner, type "Skype," and select Skype - Applications
- Enter your Skype account and click Next.
- Enter your password and click Sign In.
- Go to Skype > Audio & Video Settings.
- Microphone and Speakers should be set to Zoom UAC-2 Driver.
- Talk into the microphone to check the levels.
- Click the X in the top left of the window to close the window.
Audio Hijack Set Up
- Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner, type "Audio Hijack," and select Audio Hijack
- Go to Session > Import Session.
- Browse to /Users/Shared/Audio Hijack Sessions.
- Select skype-2-wav-files: if you need to record your mic and the Skype output to 2 separate wav files.
- Select skype-mono-mp3: if you need record the mic and Skype output mixed together in 1 mp3 file.
- Then click Import.
Make a Call
- Find the person you will be calling.
- Turn down the volume for the speakers with the volume control box.
- Put on the headphones.
- Click the phone icon to make an audio call.
- When the call connects, adjust the mic levels and headphone levels as needed.
Recording
- With the Skype call connected, go back to Audio Hijack.
- Click the record button in the lower left corner.
- Start the interview.
- When you are done, click the record button to stop the recording.
Playback
- In the Audio Hijack window, click the record tab.
