What is the Zoom AI Companion
The AI Companion in Zoom is a set of generative AI powered meetings tools, including Meeting Summaries. Whenever choosing to use the AI Companion for your class, it's important to consider how AI usage will impact learning, privacy, accessibility, and the preservation of meaningful human interaction.
How to Enable Zoom AI Companion
The Zoom AI Companion is disabled by default at Evergreen. Meeting organizers can, however, choose to opt-in and enable these features prior to starting a meeting.
- Login https://evergreen.zoom.us with your Evergreen credentials
- From the left-hand menu select Settings
- From the Settings page choose the AI Companion tab
Enable AI Companion Features
Toggle the switches to ON (blue) for the AI tools you'd like to use.
Best Practices and Privacy Reminders
- Inform Participants: When you turn on an AI Companion feature during a live meeting, an icon and notice will appear at the top of the window notifying attendees that AI tools are active.
- Recording and FERPA: Meeting summaries rely on real-time audio transcription. Be mindful when hosting sessions where sensitive student information or non-releasable educational records are discussed.
- Review Summaries Before Sharing: While Zoom AI summaries can be a great tool, always review generated notes for accuracy before distributing them to students or colleagues.
