Centralia Project overview
- create group WordPress sites to display photos/slideshows, audio and text/stories from Centralia, WA city elements
- Create Google placemarks and link to WordPress posts (embed iframe in placemark description)
- Create folder in Google Earth and put placemarks in order to create tour
- Export KML file and save. The KML file in conjunction with your Wordpress is the final product
WordPress part 1
- create group blogs
- one person creates site
- everyone else creates a WordPress blogs.evergreen.eduaccount (if you don't already have one)
- Add authors to the group site
- working with text
WordPress part 2
- Customize the look of your site: Appearance > Themes
- Customize your CSS to look good in Google Earth (see Amy's Example CSS)
- images and image galleries (nextgen image galleries)
- uploading audio (MP3)
- Embedding video
Google earth
- Creating custom placemarks
- add custom icon for your placemarks
- Embed an iframe to your WordPress post in the description of your placemark
- Create a subfolder for your group's placemarks
- Export your placemarks
- Right click on your placemark's folder
- Choose Save place as
- Set the format to .kml
- Save your kml file to your program space on Orca
