Moving files between Teams and OneDrive

Files can easily be moved or copied between OneDrive and Teams or from one Teams channel to another Teams channel.

From OneDrive to Teams

The easiest way to move or copy a file from OneDrive to Teams is from within the Teams desktop app or Teams web client.

  1. In the Teams app click on Files on the far left
  2. In the Files column click on OneDrive
  3. Find the file or files that you need to move or copy
  4. Click the selection check box on the left
  5. In the top bar click on Move or Copy
  6. In the new window that opens click on Browse Teams and Channels
  7. A list of all the teams that you belong to will load. Select the desired team.
  8. Select the channel. If there is a folder in the channel a folder can be selected if needed.
  9. Click Copy or Move

From Teams to OneDrive or another Channel

Files can be moved or copied from a Teams channels to your OneDrive or another channel

  1. In the Teams app click on Teams the far left
  2. Find the team and channel that contain the files to be moved or copied
  3. Click on the Files tab of the selected channel
  4. Find the file or files that you need to move or copy
  5. Click the selection check box on the left
  6. In the top bar click on the three horizontal dots and select Move or Copy
    1. To move or copy to another Team or channel select 'Browse Teams and Channels
    2. To move or copy to your OneDrive select OneDrive
  7. Find the desired folder in the channel or OneDrive
  8. Click Copy or Move

You can synchronize your OneDrive and Teams files to your encrypted, local college-owned computer. To protect college information and individual privacy, please do not sync with personal computers or devices.
