Canvas is our college's Learning Management System (LMS). Through the Canvas Calendar tool, faculty can create appointment slots so students can sign up for Week 5 Check-ins, Evaluation Conferences, and more. This guide provides step-by-step directions and links to related Canvas guides.

Step-by-Step Directions for Creating Eval Conference Appointments in Canvas

  1. Go to the Canvas Calendar - click the Calendar icon in the menu at far left
  2. Check the CALENDARS list at right of the page to make sure your offering (program/course) has been made visible in the main Canvas Calendar view - if the offering name appears as light gray, click the box next to its name
  3. At upper right of the main Calendar, click on the "+" button, to right of the Week/Month/Agenda buttons - this will open an Edit Event window
  4. At the Edit Event window, click on Appointment Group

For the Appointment Group settings

  1. Enter a name for the appointment group/Scheduler, such as "Eval Conferences for Winter 2019," or "Evals with [your name]."
  2. Enter meeting location.
  3. Click on the "Calendars" button to view your list of offerings:
    1. Teaching solo? Check the box next to the program/course name to select that offering.
    2. Team-teaching and using your Seminar Sections? Click on the tiny arrow next to the offering title to see the list of Seminar Sections associated with the offering and check the box next to your Seminar Section.
  4. When finished, click on the "Done" button.
  5. Double-check that the correct offering and your Seminar Section (if selected) are showing in the Calendar field.

Setting the Date and Time Range

  1. When entering the Time Range, you should only need to enter a number in each field and "am" or "pm" will be automatically applied, though you can also enter "am" or "pm" as you enter the numbers.
  2. Important Step - After you've double-checked those are the times you want, enter the desired duration for your meetings and click the "Go" button. (If you don't click "Go", you'll get a single lengthy appointment slot. ; )
  3. The Time Range should then get divided up into the desired slot times.
