If it is not possible for you to use the Authenticator app you can use SMS, a voice call, or we can issue a hardware MFA token.

Note: These options may add some complexity for you. We encourage everyone to use the Microsoft Authenticator App whenever possible.

SMS or Voice Calls on Your Phone

This option is useful if you don’t have a smartphone available for the Authenticator App but do have a cell phone. However, it is less secure and should only be used if other methods are unavailable. It does require you to have cell services or be connected to Wi-Fi calling to work.

How to Set Up SMS/Voice Call MFA:

Go to Your Security Info Page: Visit https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
Add Your Phone Number: Click + Add Method and select Phone. Enter your phone number and choose Text me a code (SMS) or Call me (voice).
Verify Your Setup:

For SMS: Enter the code sent to your phone.
For Voice Call: Answer the call and follow the instructions to verify.

Connect to the Evergreen Secure network to make MFA more robust

On your phone connect to Evergreen Secure Wi-Fi network.
You can also turn on Wi-Fi Calling on your phone for more robust MFA service. Search the Settings on your phone to turn on Wi-Fi Calling.

Hardware MFA Tokens

A hardware MFA Token is a small device about the size of a thumb drive. This device has a small screen on it displaying a number that frequently changes. When logging into an application protected by M365 you will need to type in the current number from the MFA token as your second factor. This means to use your M365 account you will always need to carry the MFA token to do so.

Getting an MFA Token issued

If you need to be issued one of these, contact the Technology Support Center to schedule a time to come into do this.
It will probably take about 10 minutes to do this. If you have an Evergreen issued laptop and can bring it with you it will make the process faster.

Please note that any existing MFA tokens you were issued for the previous system are not usable with this new system.
