Faculty: Activate Panopto in Canvas
Faculty will need to activate Panopto in their course prior to usage by clicking on the "Panopto Video" link in the Canvas course navigation menu. Faculty and students will use the Canvas course as the primary gateway to Panopto content.
Activate Microsoft Education Teams Meetings
- In your Canvas course, go to Settings > Navigation > and click and drag "Microsoft Education" into your course navigation menu.
- Click on Microsoft Education in the course navigation menu and adjust the general settings under Applications enable Teams Meetings.
- Click done to complete setup.
Create and Record a Teams Meeting
- In the Microsoft Education page, click on Teams Meetings.
- Create a new meeting in the future by clicking on New Meeting or select the down-pointing arrow on the right to Meet now.
- When the meeting has started, click the three breadcrumb dots at the top of the call window and select Record and Transcribe > Start recording.
- To stop recording, either end the call or go back to the three breadcrumb dots from the record menu and select stop recording.
- Recordings are stored in Teams, your class Team Files tab > General > Recordings folder, or accessible to view from Canvas in Microsoft Education > OneDrive > Canvas Course Team > Documents > General > Recordings.
Upload Recordings to Panopto
Microsoft Teams integration will be activated in the interim with Panopto. Until that is fully ready, here is a quick workaround.
- Access the recordings to be added to Panopto from your Canvas course OneDrive. In Canvas from the Microsoft Education menu, select OneDrive > Canvas Course Team from the Quick Access Menu > Documents > General > Recordings.
- Click on the three breadcrumb dots next to the file name and select Download.
- In Canvas, Navigate to the Panopto Video menu, click on the green Create button, and select Upload media.
- By default, it will be set to save the uploaded video to your Canvas course folder. Alternatively, you can select My folder to have videos drafted in a private location before making them live.
- Drag and drop the video file into the upload window, then close it. The video will upload in the background.
- After the upload is complete, rename the video by clicking on the Settings button.
