5.1 Surround - COM 118

118 Surround Sound 5.1 Setup

• Check Pro Tools' bundles for correct 5.1 channel placement:
  • Speakers - L R C LFE LS RS should be assigned to Apollo Outs - 17 18 19 20 21 22

• Assign outputs of tracks and master to 5.1 output

• PATCH:
  • NEVE GROUP OUTPUTS (1-6) (located at patch points) N17-22) to 118 SPL VOL. CTRL. INPUTS (L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS) (located at patch points V19-24)
  • SPL VOL. CNTRL OUTPUTS (L, R) (located at patch points U25,26) must be patched to118 C/R SPEAKER INPUTS (L,R) (located at patch points V 25, 26)

• On the Neve, assign channels 17-22 to groups 1-6 in corresponding order. (ie Channel 17 to Group 1, Channel 18 to Gropu 2, etc)
  • These will be your 6 surround output channels.
• Make sure ‘tape’ button is pressed in on these channels

• Make sure all buttons that turn each 5.1 speaker on or off on the SPL Surround Monitor Controller are turned on.
• Also make sure all other buttons are not pushed in.
  • This controller will be your main Volume Control!!

• Bring up your levels in your project, the faders on Channels 17 through 22, and faders on Groiups 1 through 6.
