Help for Students, Faculty, and Staff
Microsoft Immersive Reader is a text-to-speech tool available in areas of Canvas that display an "Immersive Reader" button at the upper right.
What is text-to-speech?
"Text-to-Speech" means a tool or feature which allows a computer to read digital and web-based content aloud.
Where can I use Microsoft Immersive Reader (MIR)?
- In Canvas, MIR is available for use where ever you see the "Immersive Reader" button at the upper right of the page, such as at course Home pages, general pages, the Canvas "Syllabus" page, and Assignments.
- It is not available at Quizzes, for files, or external content. See below for alternative text-to-speech methods.
- MIR is also available in Word via "View"
