How to write meaningful descriptive text.
To create a better experience for users, write meaningful link text that indicates the link's destination and/or provides a description of the content being linked to.
i.e.: If you were to just see the link, would you know the web page it connects to?
For Example:
Accessibility Checklist by UW versus http://www.washington.edu/accessibility/checklist/.
Descriptive text for embedded videos
INCORRECT: A YouTube link that does not utilize descriptive text will appear like this on the page:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFjMY9weYRA
CORRECT: A YouTube link that does utilize descriptive text that will display like this on the page:
