Digital Accessibility means providing necessary access for persons with disabilities and improving access for as many people as possible. The UDOIT Accessibility Assistant in Canvas can help us double-check our content prior to sharing it with students and participants.

Accessibility Checking and Testing

  • All employees at the college - faculty, staff, student-staff - are responsible for creating accessible content.
  • The key to effective digital accessibility is implementing accessible practices proactively, making sure all content is accessible before sharing it with others.
  • Accessible universal design essentials meet both compliance and design best practices.
  • Accessibility checkers built within platforms and applications such as Canvas and Microsoft 365 are very helpful though not always accurate. Having a familiarity with the essential practices will be useful for double checking results provided by automated checkers.
